"Where DISCOVERY is in the journey!"

Miss Mandi

I was born and raised here in the Snoqualmie Valley. I come from a wonderful family firmly rooted in this community. I was educated here, and that contributed to my desire to open The Discovery Preschool here.
After graduating from Mt. Si, I attended Central Washington University where I earned my degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. After graduating, I taught first grade at Fall City Elementary School which I loved. I took some time off from teaching to have my own children, with the hopes of one day opening a preschool.
I have always loved young children and their innate curiosity and zest for life. The Discovery Preschool has been a dream of mine for many years. I am so fortunate that I not only get to live my professional dream, but also that my own children get to be a part of this amazing school.
Miss Jen

I am so excited to be a part of The Discovery Preschool. I have a Bachelors degree in sociology and a minor in child development. I have spent over 12 years working in various settings with young children and their families.
I was raised and graduated from college in Northern California (1994) where I first began working with preschool aged children. I did an internship in a Head Start Program and worked in the lab-school at Humboldt State University.
I moved to Seattle in 1995 and was the lead teacher in a NAEYC Accredited school in the Queen Anne area for over 3 years. During the summer, I also run the preschool program at a friend's summer camp on the Issaquah plateau.
Children and their vibrant energy are a big part of my life. A child's first teacher has a great responsibility to foster a love of learning and a positive image of school. It's an honor to be entrusted with their care.
Miss Wendy

I was born and raised in Snoqualmie Valley, and I am a product of this empowering district. Therefore, these communities are close to my heart.
I graduated from Central Washington University with my degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. I was blessed with the opportunity to teach first grade at Fall City Elementary School for four years. This was a dream come true and each year provided me with many opportunities to continue my education and improve my craft. I have created many special bonds with students, parents and colleagues.
Most recently, I took a leave of absence to focus on my two children. Teaching is an important part of who I am. I am thankful that I am able to continue empowering students in this new capacity.
Miss Kristen

Coming from a family of educators, I've always known that I wanted to be a teacher. I am a graduate of Central Washington University with a BA degree in Elementary Education. I started my career teaching Kindergarten, which I did for 4 years before having my first child.
While my daughter was little, I started the Polka Dot Preschool. For 4 years, I taught preschool with kids ages 3-5 and I still had time to spend with my own children. Now, as my children are getting older, it's time for me to move on yet again. I am very excited to continue teaching at The Discovery Preschool!!!
Miss Amy

I was born and raised in Montana, where I graduated from Montana State University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
In 1993 I moved to Western, WA with my husband. I worked at Pine Lake Montessori in Issaquah in 1994 & 1995.
After my son was born in 1995, I took several years off to be at home with my three children.
I have spent the last seven years working with children and their families through Olive Crest Foster Care and Adoption Agency. I have also had the privilege of working for Snoqualmie Valley Alliance Church as their Children’s Ministries Director for the past five years.
Children are and always have been my passion, and I love to spend time with them. That is why I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity to join the fantastic Discovery Pre-School Team.
Miss Janet

I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I graduated from Portland Community College with an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. My husband and I moved to Fall City in 1984 where we have raised our two daughters.
I have worked in various settings with young children; the last 29 years I have been with the Issaquah School District. As an Educational Assistant, my emphasis was teaching small groups and interacting one-on-one with children that needed extra support in reading, writing, and math.
From my experience in teaching and being a mother, I believe that establishing a relationship built on trust and respect fosters the foundation for growth and learning.
I am delighted to be a part of the Discovery Preschool team and work in an environment that is conducive to learning. It is rewarding to participate in a child’s first learning experiences – from hearing the excitement in their voices to the smiles on their faces as they discover the world around them.
Miss Susan

I am a second generation Washington native growing up mostly in the Bellevue area. I taught special education students elementary through high school in Bellevue, Kent and Issaquah districts. I obtained a Masters of Education in school counseling and was a high school counselor for eleven years before retiring in 2008. Since then I have been fortunate to work for the Snoqualmie District as an elementary IA. I have loved each and every level that I have worked in and am excited about this new adventure.
I have three grown children and three adorable Granddaughters all of which live within blocks of me. When they are not consuming my spare time you will most likely find me hiking and riding my horse during the warmer months and snowshoeing and cross country skiing during the winter.
My involvement and passion for working with children has spanned the greater part of my life. Being a part of children’s lives has brought great fulfillment and joy to my heart. I always come away feeling like I have received more than I have given. I feel very blessed to be working with such a wonderful team of teachers and love encouraging and fostering confidence and a love of learning in each and every child
